@paramira/historical-date

Dates as oral history gives them — exact, a year, around a year, a range, or relative to an era ("the year we fled") — with the verbatim text kept, chronological sorting, overlap, and coarsening to a month, year or decade that never adds precision.

License: MIT. Generic: fuzzy oral-history dates with verbatim text, sorting, overlap, coarsening.

What it does

Dates as oral history gives them: an exact day, a year, a month of a year, "around 1959", a range, or a date relative to an era ("the year we fled"). Forcing an exact date destroys information and invents precision that was never there, so a HistoricalDate keeps its verbatim text alongside whatever structure is known.
